New Job - 3D Visualiser

Hello Peeps,
The season of Christmas is upon us and the Ford family are all buzzing with excitement for tomorrow...

I would like to take this to reflect on the past 6 weeks in my job working as a 3D Visualiser in a High-end company and the differences in my previous job as a 3D Modellor for a construction company.
I thought, like many of you, that the change would be easy and minimal. Infact the differences are vast...
  • Knowledge of everyday object dimensions is essential,
  • Knowledge of lights and the impact each light has on a room is critical,
  • Understanding materials and the differences in reflectivity, refraction, transmittance etc each surface has is essential.
  • Finally, Application of these 3 points in the lighting system Vray to get the best result in an image.
For interiors, the application of these tools and understanding how each material works and interacts with the other objects in a scene, is everything!  I feel that my understanding of these forces is increasing as each project goes by.

To show you how my progression is going, I attach a test render of my home bathroom.  We have recently had this done and I thought it would be a good scene to try and do at home.  As usual, let me know if you have comments.

Anyways, I forgot to mention that the job is going well and my colleagues at work are nice and very helpful.  My only hope is that I can continue working there after my trial period ends...  I can see myself working there for a very long time if everything continues to go well.

Have a good Christmas and Happy New Year!

2 days left

I only have 2 days left working at the The Bionic Group..  and it cannot end soon enough I am afraid to say.  Obviously I have slowly been relieved of my responsibilities to ease the change over but it means the days drag on and certain people ignore me throughout the day. One pet peeve I hate is messaging between staff.. who knows what or whom they are talking about!
I can honestly say I will never forget the opportunity I was given to work here and when I look back in the future, I will say it all started there.  The staff have been excellent and I have made some excellent friendships which I hope to continue but its time to move on and test myself at another level.  Excited but apprehensive for Monday.

At the moment i am packing my belongings away before the big move home on Saturday.  I will keep you posted on my new job in Essex in the not too distant future.

New Job

I would just like to announce that I have secured another job doing High-End visualisation. ;0)
I am so happy about it, it means that I can go home and see my friends and family more.  The company I will be moving to and starting in 4 weeks time is called Rendertime. They are based in Chelmsford, which is only a short distance from my house.  Of course this means I will be leaving The Bionic Group, who gave me my first break in the industry, but there must come a time when you have to follow your heart and take a risk.

Wow, has it been that that long!

Again Wow, has it actually been 5 months since my last post.  All I can say is that it has gone really quickly and I have learnt alot.  I am coming up to 1 year working for the Bionic Group and am looking to the future.  They have offered to send me to Liverpool to work in our satellite office in order learn high end skills from our guys up there and I am really excited about that. They also said I had 'great potential' and am very grateful for the comment.  Its nice to hear someone appreciates the effort I am putting in and my working output only appears to be getting better.
I want to work in High End visualization and beleive the experience I would gain from working with the Liverpool guys and integrating that with my phasing experience, will only be good for the company and myself.
