New Job - 3D Visualiser

Hello Peeps,
The season of Christmas is upon us and the Ford family are all buzzing with excitement for tomorrow...

I would like to take this to reflect on the past 6 weeks in my job working as a 3D Visualiser in a High-end company and the differences in my previous job as a 3D Modellor for a construction company.
I thought, like many of you, that the change would be easy and minimal. Infact the differences are vast...
  • Knowledge of everyday object dimensions is essential,
  • Knowledge of lights and the impact each light has on a room is critical,
  • Understanding materials and the differences in reflectivity, refraction, transmittance etc each surface has is essential.
  • Finally, Application of these 3 points in the lighting system Vray to get the best result in an image.
For interiors, the application of these tools and understanding how each material works and interacts with the other objects in a scene, is everything!  I feel that my understanding of these forces is increasing as each project goes by.

To show you how my progression is going, I attach a test render of my home bathroom.  We have recently had this done and I thought it would be a good scene to try and do at home.  As usual, let me know if you have comments.

Anyways, I forgot to mention that the job is going well and my colleagues at work are nice and very helpful.  My only hope is that I can continue working there after my trial period ends...  I can see myself working there for a very long time if everything continues to go well.

Have a good Christmas and Happy New Year!
